Many have proposed that we can characterise sociology as the subject that agreements with and interprets social interaction. Here sociology is characterized by the detail that it examines the casual and formal social connections engaged in by individuals. Sociologists might normally observe and interpret kinds of interactions which take place between individuals. So to include this idea of social interaction in any definition of sociology is helpful (Chastain, 1988). However the inclusion of communal interaction does not establish sociology's distinctiveness when it is advised alongside, for example psychology.
