The theories of sociology give us several ways of thinking in order to sight our society. It gives the perspective of simply looking at the globe. A hypothesis is a set of unified propositions or values planned to answer a problem or put in plain words a specific phenomenon; it gives us with a sightpoint. Sociological assumptions help us to describe and forecast the social world in which we are living.

Sociology comprises three main theoretical perspectives: the Conflict perspective, the functionalist and the symbolic integrationist perspective (sometimes called the interactions perspective). Each perspective presents a range of explanations about the human behavior and social world.

Functionalist Perspective

The functionalist perspective is mainly described by the works of Emile Durkheim, Herbert Spencer, Robert Merton and Talcott Parsons. According to functionalism perspective, society is a structure of interrelated parts that exertion together in agreement to retain a state of equilibrium and social equilibrium for the total. For instance, every social institutions supply significant purposes for society: Family gives a background for nurturing, reproducing, and socializing children; education presents a mean to transmit a society's knowledge, skills, and culture to its adolescence; politics gives a means of leading associates of society; economics gives consumption of goods and services for the production, distribution, and; and religion gives an outlet for worship of a higher power and moral guidance.

The functionalist perspective highlights the inter connectivity of society by spotlighting on how each fraction influences and is predisposed by other fractions. For instance, the augment in dual-earner and single-parent families has donated to the amount of children those are failing in studies because parents have turn out to be less available to manage their children's homework. As a consequence of changes in technology, colleges are presenting more technical programs, and a lot of adults are returning to school to study new skills that are necessary in the place of work. The growing number of women in the personnel has donated to the creation of policies in opposition to job discrimination and sexual harassment.

Functionalists employ the expressions Functional and dysfunctional to describe the belongings of social rudiments on society. Elements of society are purposeful if they add to social steadiness and dysfunctional if they disturb social steadiness. A few aspects of society are able to be both functional and dysfunctional. For instance, crime might be dysfunctional in that it is linked with loss of property, physical violence, and fear.
