“The bean trees” is written by Barbara Kingsolver. The story of the novel revolves around Taylor, whose real name is Marietta Greer. She decided to go to west in her old Volkswagen to avoid practicing the tradition of her native and Kentucky, that is making babies before the girls learn their multiplication tables. On the road to the west in the desert, a woman hands over her fate in her hands, a baby girl, a Cherokee. Taylor finds herself raising a small Cherokee Indian who had a terrible start in life but later surrounded by friends and her adoptive mother Taylor, who brought up the baby and named her Turtle. Taylor met some people that could help her. Lou Ann, who just gave birth to a baby boy that was abandoned by the father, they decided to live together. Mattie, a generous woman, who has a sort of garage, hired Taylor as her employee. She introduced her to a couple Estevan and Esperanza, which are Guatemalan refugees.
