Introduction

In the long and continuous journey of invention in the field of technology internet can be considered as the most remarkable and spectacular invention. The development and access to the internet in recent times has grown tremendously. Similarly, social web is a new advent within the field of internet. Social web are forms of social interaction, defined as a dynamic exchange between individuals, groups and institutions in situations of complexity. An open and permanent construction involving sets identified the same needs and problems and that are organized to leverage their resources (Jay, 2007). Internet social web provides many advantages to business by promoting their products and services and it also provides advantages to the general people. It also has certain issues that are controversial (Arthur, 2009).

Discussion

The Internet has created a unique environment of anonymity, which allows identity experimentation with multiple selves. Social web provides an anonymous environment, which still maintains some aspects that encourage identity exploration, but with a level of accountability that is reflected in users' real lives. At the birth of the web, sometimes called Web 1.0, users wrote all of their web contents themselves. While HTML is a relatively simple language to write, it was still too much of a barrier to the average person's entry into the web. This created a great marketplace for sites such as Geo Cities, where users with no HTML experience could easily create their own web pages. Geo Cities was so successful that Yahoo purchased it near the end of the dot com bubble for 3.57 billion dollars. Web content became more generated with the introduction of web 2.0. Web 2.0 is a confluence of web technologies, the most important of which is content generation services. Content generation platforms allow users to create custom and attractive web pages without any technical expertise.

This allows people without a technical background to publish information, such as text posts and pictures, to the web to share with friends and strangers alike. Combined with the increasing popularity of the Internet and the average person's desire for a web presence, these factors created an explosion in the use of web services such as social networks and blogs. One of the first social networking sites was Friendster, founded in 2002. This site soon spawned MySpace in 2003 and Facebook in 2004. MySpace helped jump start YouTube, which Google purchased for 1 billion dollars. Facebook now claims 64 million active users and even more registered users, with a valuation anywhere from 1 billion to 15 billion dollars.
