Introduction

Social workers are referred to as a people who help people in solving their issues. Social work is a serving field. It is a profession for helping needy and helpless people. It is often observed that social worker is a person who works for the welfare of the people in order to help them in managing their issues and problems. They usually work to resolve the problems of the people including disability, illness and other health issues. They provide social services to the people including government assistance, health care; legal aid etc. social workers help people as well as their families to solve their issues like mental and physical illness, poverty or alcohol and drug addiction. The profession of social work not only involves the interaction with people but also with their families and friends as well. Social workers perform their duties along with other organization including local authority departments, police, schools services and healthcare departments (Rubin & Babbie, 2012, pp.11-12).

Social work has its own practice standards, code of ethics, a nationwide system of qualified education program and knowledge. Social workers are highly qualified people and they are highly equipped with skills, knowledge and ethics which are essential to serve and help families, individuals, communities and organizations. Social workers are responsible to assist people and local communities by offering them appropriate solutions (Hepworth, et.al., 2011, pp. 20-23).

Professional social workers are responsible to help people in their vulnerabilities and provide them healthy environment. In this situation it is big query that how social workers know what to do when they do social work? Trainings and certain theories explains them the need of social work in certain communities (Hepworth, et.al., 2011, pp. 20-23).

Discussion

Zastrow claims that the profession of social work is one of the vast professions. It involves the power to make differentiation, actions towards problems, taking decisions and observation of issues. People working as social workers are most devoted people, they observes social concerns and presents updated solutions of the problems. They help the vulnerable people and provide moral and financial assistance to them. Social workers offers direct services to the people and do efforts to provide them economic and social justice. People from all age groups can discuss their issue to social workers like bereavement and loss, relationship breakdown, family and domestic violence, homelessness, addictions and mental or physical health. In these situations social workers takes appropriate steps in order to resolve these issues (Zastrow, 2010, pp. 92-93).

On the other hand the famous author Greene states that social workers have to start their services by themselves, using their studies, researches, surveys and social practices. The social service decisions of social workers are highly dependent on their consideration, awareness and knowledge (Greene, 2011, pp. 116-118).
