Introduction

In today's world, the use of electronic media networks is increasing widely and has become popular around the globe. There are many purposes of using the electronic network programs including the use of social networks in order to make improvements in communication and relationships. The phenomenon of making friends online has become an important topic of debate. Different people around the globe have different perception regarding the topic. One common perception about the use of electronic communication is that it has significant negative impact on the society. Many people believe that use of social networks for making relationships is a source of damaging our society. Therefore, the paper aims to discuss the advantages and drawbacks of using of electronic social media. It also aims to discuss the positive and negative impact of social networks on the general society. According to the report of DNR (2013), there are approximately 1.1 billion and 500 million users of facebook and twitter, respectively. There are various reasons for such high usage of these social networks. They can be identified as both, good and bad. It solely depends upon the intention of a person using social networks.

Many people around the world believe that the use of social network for making relationships is impacting society negatively in various different ways. They believe that people are widely misusing the social networks. There are many reasons for the development of such perception. One of the major reasons is that many people have made fake accounts on social networks to make relationships. There are also many people that use social network in order to satisfy their sexual needs by finding someone with similar needs online. People waste a lot of time on using social networks that could have otherwise been spent in other things. For instance; people may focus more on their education if they stop using the social networks for the sake of passing time. People are spending so much time on internet that they do not even have time to spend with their families and social relationships (Simpson et al,. 2011). They spend all their time in communicating with different people online through chat or video chat.

The pleasure that people get from using social networks may be greater than the pleasure that they actually get in their real life. They should understand the importance of spending time with family members and friends. Many people find love online. It is not a good idea because it comes up with many dramatic disadvantages. Many people found others attractive on cam and pictures but when they meet them in real life they are keener to move on and look for someone else on electronic networks. It is a big threat for the youth of today's generation. People often lie about their original identities just for the sake of meeting new people.
