Task 1: introduction

The discipline of social psychology emerges from the work of psychologists in specialized centers (centers for the disabled, shelters, etc.) In response to the needs of different social intervene, the main purpose, according to several psychologists is “proactive intervention, preventive social risk situations and staff and improving the quality of life looking for the development of individuals, groups and communities with the necessary skills and competencies for analyzing social reality and seek appropriate solutions (Wortley, 2002, pp. 122-158). " Thus, the functions of the Social Psychologist focus on research, evaluation and intervention of individuals who are part of a society. This topic has been selected to understand the psychology of social influence and group dynamics on prison environment.

Task 2: Discussion from literature

The social psychology is referred to a branch of psychology that takes into consideration considering the diversity as an actor in a social context. It revolves around the perception, thinking, feeling and acting in the interaction developed with the social environment and the formative influences on social environment which in turn influenced by conditions of the social environment. The social environment, also called social context that includes social and situational context in which the behavior and experience is part of a person's contextual values, norms and role expectations (Towl, 2008, pp. 18-127). Social psychology tries processes of reciprocal influence to explore the individual and the social environment and describe inter subjectively comprehensible. The focus of social psychology is the socialization system, support systems and control systems of deviance that can be directed to any level of social services, for instance, for individuals, for groups, for groups or for cultural institutions.

Social Intervention in Prisons

Social intervention is professional action about a problem situation, aimed at determining key forces in the diagnosis which are capable of bringing about change, performing the actions that establish the planning (Nicholas, 2011, pp.167-171). Therefore, it can be said that it is the social worker's action aimed at improving the living conditions of the prisoner in the prison environment.

The term treatment, the basic method was adopted, and later replaced by the Intervention or execution.

Sometimes the intervention lead to a performance, but at other times, the best intervention is the non-performance.

Science does not have the sole purpose of explaining the phenomena which it covers, but its ultimate justification in the intervention. It is for this reason that the social sciences are committed to the social phenomena that are the object, i.e. the social intervention, which is commonly believed and should not be based on the framework of isolated efforts and a theoretical, while it will prevent any broad-spectrum treatment. Despite all efforts, at least in the area of social intervention, there is still an important task to continue to achieve minimum levels of consolidation.
