American Social Values

The social values of the Americans have been a changing nature by the time (Theobald, 1968). Social values are considered as a large concept in the American culture which includes social capital along with the subjective aspect of the citizen's well being. Social values are basically the principles and standards of the human interaction within a specified group as being worthy, significant and important (Arrow, 1963).

The core Social values in the American society are Self- respect, security and warm relationship with others. There lie many other Social values that need to be practiced by every individual. However, being a socially responsible citizen it is a duty of every individual to do self- fulfillment, get well respect from others, and keep the sense of accomplishment and sense of belongingness (McCaffrey, 2007). These social values would lead towards a pleasurable and happy life and help in experiencing the thrills and stimulation of life.

Influence of Social Values over Social worker

Being a Clinical social worker, many of the responsibilities would get influenced with these social values that needed to get practiced at any workplace. Clinical Social worker has his responsibilities to every individual client, groups and to the family with whom he or she have a professional relationship. If one doesn't get influenced with the social values, it would not be possible to execute any of the clinical practice (Crane, 1982). Clinical social worker need to give self respect to his clients and respect their dignity, provide them security and protect their welfare and need to get influence in maximizing the self determination of the clients.
