Introduction

The paper compares and contrasts the relationship between how the social order and traffic are related. Social order is an issue which various scientists have raised with the attempt to find answers to the individual behaviour and social disorder. There are two academic views presented in the book “Making social lives” by Stephanie Taylor. The paper is an account of the relationship of individual and traffic based on these views.

Discussion

It is usually taken for granted that people in UK drive on the left side of the road. The driver changes gear with their left hand. The position of traffic signs are to the right side of the vehicle which catches the eye of the driver driving in that position. The traffic rules and priorities are marked from left to right and the system falls adequately into place. However it is normal in UL because it is accepted as a convention that governs people's conduct. People in UK do not think of this as a system which is peculiar or deviant. Although the fact is that the same system is applicable in the quarter of the countries in the world that are the forms of British colonies. If one goes to continental Europe or other countries, the position of the driver is at he left side of the seat driving and geared by the principles of driving on the right- hand side. Various social orders about traffic are present in various countries. These norms and regulation control the movement of pedestrian on the streets, as well as the vehicle manufactures, and the establishment of highway codes. Although left hand driving in UK is peculiar but there are various issues common in the country (Taylor, Hinchliffe, Clarke, Bromley, 412). The drivers are involved in a coordinated complex system of social order I public space. The movement of these regulations are enforced through a system of penalties, and violations top ensure human safety. As the road dangers are ever increasing, so are the regulations and social orders including the elements like speed, and controls.

During an accident, the car driver dually follows the norms while driving along an urban street, speed limit, traffic lights and the road ways are considered. If the driver is met by the other driver who does not follow the traffic norms, that could result in a disaster for both people trying to avoid the accident, the frit driver breaks the norm, and swerve into the road on the other side (Wheatley, 75). The question is what makes these norms common and where do they come from. The driving rules are created to manage the dangers and risks of motor traffic. The insurance procedures provide guidelines by individuals offering prescriptions about what to do to make claims for damage.
