Introduction

There are a number of different social and cultural factors that affect individual behavior and his or her attitude in the society. In a social and cultural context these aspects result in creating negative aspects towards society, family, and community. Social movements are one of the most important factors that affect individual behavior in the society. Following Vignette will provide an understanding about different factors that are responsible for the individual behavior and problems for getting basic social and health care facilities.

Summary of the Vignette's Key Points As Related To the Social Movements It Represents

Carole is a 25 year old, white female; she belongs to middle class and lives in a small town, in the Midwest. She involved in a number of different negative activities, since her teen years. She dropped her school and began smoking marijuana, taking prescription pain medicines, and drinking. She did not take any job, and she refused to complete her studies. At the age of eighteen, her parents gave her $100 and asked her to leave. Carole faced many problems as she had to stay a friend's house and she had problems in managing her life. She got a job as a waitress at a very low wage and she had difficulty in managing her drinking and smoking expenses. She started providing sexual services for the money.

Carol was pregnant at the age of twenty five, and she had difficulty in managing to get health care, she had no money. She finally decided to have a baby and to deal with her life. She continued her studies and kept working as a waitress, but stopped providing sexual favors for money. She also tried to stop using alcohol and drugs due to her pregnancy, but continued with marijuana and cigarette. When it was six months to her pregnancy she started having bleeding and went to the emergency room, but she do not have any insurance or money to get medical assistance. During her seventh, she gave birth to a premature baby boy, weighing two and half bounds, with multiple complications such as respiratory problems, feeding difficulties, and blindness. Carol had no idea what to do and where to go as she has no financial means for their health care.
