Abstract

In this study the analysis aims to enlighten the effect of technology and social media on relationships. The inclination in technology had opened new dimensions of communication and interaction. The paper will discover the history of social networking, and focuses on the evolution of social media. The rise of the social media networking has enhanced the individuals' capacity to maintain the existing relationships, and formulate the new ones. The analysis of the paper will not only explore the impact of social media and technology on the personal relationships but also the professional relationships. The rise of the social media has enhanced the communication among the people, and corporations to advance their PR activities through social networking. According to diverse sources, the technological innovation has depreciated the traditional modes of communication. However, the other sources consider social media networking destructive for the relationships as the social networking sites have occupied the individuals, and they are not left with enough time to socialize. Nevertheless, the social networking has eliminated the element of shy behavior from the individuals; thus, they can socialize and maintain their relationships. The social media and technological innovation has also influenced people to sustain their long-distance relationships by communicating through contemporary modes of communication.

Introduction

The purpose of this paper is to enlighten the effect of technology and social media on the relationships. The paper aims to explore the inclination of technology and social media; in addition, it analyzes its influence on the stability or deterioration of the relationships. Technology has entirely changed the face and definition of social relationships. Socializing had a total different meaning in ancient times. One could not think of being connected to the whole globe just by sitting at home. In the past, social relations meant to meet with other individual in person to acquire one's social purposes; or physically take part in social activities, in order to know some other person better and make acquaintances. However, one does not even need to go back to ancient time in order to distinguish between socializing of the contemporary era and ancient times. Even a decade ago, socializing almost had the same meaning as it had in ancient time.

Nowadays, technology has provided with a viral platform to socialize, and formulate distinct relationships. Every day thousands of sites talk about the influence that Social Media is having on our society.
