Introduction

In today's world, the media has the most influence on the life of the people. The media has various forms like print media, television and internet. The report will focus on the social media and its impact on the social life on the members of the society. In these demanding times, the mankind has adopted fast life style which in turn creates a demand of a medium through which mankind can interact with each other easily (Gilbert & Karahalios, 2009, pp. 211-220). This has provided impetus to growth of social media websites such as face book, twitter, WhatsApp, Viber and BBM. These social networking platforms are very much popular among the population of the world. These websites primary act as catalyst in encouraging the social life of their users. According to the research, the growth rate in the users of these social networking websites is very high and categorized as exponential. The popularity of these websites is very high from east to west (Fusco, et al, 2010, pp. 157-171). This indicated that the user base of these websites is very large and includes highly educated population, middle class and even the low middle class groups. The expansion of these social websites remained invulnerable to boundaries of countries and subcontinents because of the value that these websites offers. The social networking websites are become more effective due to the locations based services (Baym, Zhang, & Lin, 2004, pp. 310).

Location based services are a general class of computer program level services used to include specific controls for location and time data as control features in computer programs. Location based service is an information and has a number of uses in Social Networking today as an entertainment service, which is accessible with mobile devices through the mobile network and which uses information on the geographical position of the mobile device (Boyd, 2007, pp. 135).

The report will cover the impact of the social network in the life of the users. The impact can be positive or negative. The report will highlight that how these social networks actually affect the life of the users in term of being social. It is a common seen phenomenon that almost all human being like to be social and anything that provides opportunity to get interacted with the friends become very important for humans (Ellison, 2007, pp. 220). The report will also highlight that what role the location based services actually play in making the social networks effective. There are various types of applications (location based services) available in the market at a reasonable price (Consolvo, Smith, Matthews, LaMarca, Tabert, & Powledge, 2005, pp. 85).

The invention of the smart phones has also helped these social networking websites in growing to high extend. The mobiles and smart phones are designed in such a way that the user can access his or her account easily and more frequently (Mangold & Faulds, 2009, pp. ...
