Introduction

Social Inequality is a leading concern for different countries all over the world. The core argument of the essay relates to the social inequality represented in the film Elysium. The argument of the essay will discuss the possibility of observing the approximately similar image of Social Inequality in the upcoming future as presented by the director Neill Blomkamp in the movie Elysium. The idea of the social inequality as presented in the movie Elysium will be analyzed and compared for the current condition of Australian Culture. It is also obvious that popular culture is also evident in the Australian Society. The core focus of this paper will be to discuss the demonstration of social inequality in the movie Elysium, in accordance with the popular culture that is observed in the Australian society.

Discussion

Social inequality harms citizens of all ages, especially young people from low-income class, unable to ascend socially by the lack of quality education, better opportunities in the labor market and a healthy and dignified life. Nevertheless, in addition to more serious divisions on the size of property and income, prestige and power, our society is characterized by many rank-difference - so thin and at the same time so deeply rooted that the statements about the disappearance of all forms of inequality due to equalization process can be perceived, but at least, skeptical (Leigh, 2013). It is very obvious that discriminations and differences in different parts of the world still exist today in the modern society.

Elysium is the new film from director Neill Blomkamp and the premiere of Wagner Moura in Hollywood. Just like in District 9, which functioned as a metaphor in relation to Apartheid, Elysium is a dystopia that serves as critical to industrial development, the unbridled exploitation of the environment, police repression and social inequality. The story is set in the middle of the 22nd century in Los Angeles, and features a planet falling apart to the point that the rich world build a luxury condo to live in space. The workers, who are on earth are subjected to increased human work, and a massive police repression undertaken by robots remotely controlled by the rich who live in Elysium. Despite the numerous, and often too big action scenes, Elysium is remembered as a film that presents social inequality from the oppressed bias, and does not seek a single solution for the problems of the world.

Immigration

The movie has given the concept about immigration on the basis of acquiring better options. There is another impact that reveals the changing needs of the people in the country.
