Member states of European Union and Ireland have mutually termed “social exclusion” as a practice due to which specific nationals are driven to the society borders. These nationals are completely shunned from contributing to the society owing to discrimination, lack of lifelong learning opportunities and basic competencies, poverty or unemployment. The result for these people is danger of exclusion from education opportunities, income, community, job, & social activities and networks. Socially excluded people have limited approach to decision-making and power, causing beliefs of helplessness and incapability to have influence over the choices that shape their everyday living.

In 2010, 30 percent of the population in Ireland was believed to be vulnerable of social exclusion or unemployment. Ireland is dealing with hard circumstances, economically, environmentally and socially. Countryside society, that form 40% of the population of Ireland and 36% of the population of Northern Ireland are not unaffected to these issues.

INTRODUCTION

Social exclusion is a dynamic and complex practice that may cause the collapse of the public institutions which ensure the common mixing of the household or individual. It centers on groups and individuals to a smaller degree and concentrates higher on the methods which instigate exclusion. Social exclusion is a functional idea which provides a mechanism by which the ability of someone or group of people to access not only financial supports, but also other community benefits and broader prospect may be more recognized noticeably. The 'social exclusion' notion evidently relates to unemployment and poverty nevertheless it is much more than that. Social exclusion is related to surviving as marginalized and isolated individual from broader economic and social actions. There are varied and several reasons of social exclusion, for instance; persons can be unemployed, inadequately capable, dealing with harder dmestic conditions or living on a low income, they can reside at meager areas or accommodation shattered by crimes or can certainly be inhabiting an one-off with inadequate contact to transportation. (Government of Ireland 2012, 175)

This paper will discuss how many people are unemployed in Ireland and there is a link between social exclusion and unemployment or not. It also discuss the impact of social exclusion.

Statement of Purpose

In nature, the study will be exploratory and will revolve around study and analysis of different unemployment and social exclusion trend in Ireland and other related literature of different authors to identify possible evidence of linkage between social exclusion and unemployment.

LITERATURE REVIEW

A review of the literature shows that Ireland has been facing serious challenges in terms of increased unemployment and social exclusion. Social exclusion has been increasing at an alarming rate showing wide dissimilarities in the living standards of rural and urban population of the country.
