Introduction

The topic of social cognition is considered as one of the sub topics of social psychology. This area of psychology deals with the processing, storing, and applying information regarding other people and social issues. It shed light on the importance and role of cognitive procedures in social communications. It depicts the way one perceive general environment around him or her that further formulates the base of interactions, feelings and thought process. Based on the above explanation, we can define social cognition as thinking process that takes into account one's perceptions, remembrance, presence and ability to make sense regarding people in a social context (Moskowitz, 2004). It can also be defined as a theoretical and practical way to comprehend various topics of social psychology by exploring the cognitive and social occurrence. It mainly emphasizes upon the way, the information is approached, understood, memorized, presented, and developed in one's mind. This approach is then used by individual to perceive information and interact with the social world (Hamilton, 2005).

It is analyzed and studied by many researchers and psychologists that children attain a better and competent level of understanding related to other children of their age and adults around them as they grow. This concept is usually referred to theory of mind. The infants of 18 months age or below start looking up to their parents around them for getting information elated to various stuff. They try to explore what adults or parents are thinking about a particular social act. At the age of 4, children barely get the ability to comprehend the concept of misunderstanding a issue or having a false perception. More consistently, it is considered that a genuine explanation of a constructivist theory of mind becomes evident only at school age from 6-7 years, being closer to the theory of adult mind only from the period of adolescence. Scholars argue that in this period the children not only begin to understand that different people may have different beliefs, but that these people may know the same thing in different ways (Schick, n.d.).
