The aim of this paper is to describe and explain the advantages and advantages of brining world cup in America. The aim of this paper is to explain a new perspective of having world cup won by America. The paper discusses the positive and negative aspects of winning the world cup.

Introduction

The sport of soccer (more commonly referred to around the world as football) has players and enthusiasts residing in various regions spanning the globe. The World Cup, its biggest event, hosted by The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), attracts a record breaking number of viewers. According to the literature, a sport mega-event such as the Football World Cup or the Olympic Games has many advantages for the organizing country, not only in economic terms but also in other areas. This paper analyses the possible impact of the American economy of the 2010 World Cup (Dohmen, 2006).

A mega-event is an event with a limited duration that might occur only once or with a certain recurrence. Hosting a mega event where crowds of people from all over the planet are involved is a challenge for any country. Increasing the security measures, organizing transport and energy infrastructures, accommodation facilities, preparing new sport areas are only some of the situations that the selected country has to plan in advance, with a short-time deadline and budget limitations.

Football has showed up to be over the last 25 years the World's leading game. It can influence into other branches such as society, commerce and politics. Whole regions and nations forget the differences and conflicts to build a feeling of union around the football phenomena, the only factor that can move masses in this scale. The potential of football is easily appreciated just mentioning that, since 2007, FIFA includes 208 member associations, making it one of the biggest and more popular federations of the World (Ahlfeldt, 2010).

Discussion

Politicians are hopeful that the media attention and widespread publicity of the event will help reflect positive images of their country. Unfortunately, these feelings have been proven to be short lived. Once the event is over and, the confetti is cleaned off, what's left is a country that is forced to revert to its original, or sometimes an even worse, economic state.

Pros

One positive effect is the aforementioned feel-good factor. World Cup leaves an overall positive impact on the hosting and winning country regarding increased tourism or improved economic results. This suggests that residents believe there to be another important factor derived from hosting and winning a mega-event such as World Cup, most commonly referred to as the "feel-good" factor. The effects of the feel good factor can also be attributed to the need of the government to gain public support.
