Abstract

The situational judgment test provides an analysis of psychological measurements that several organizations follow in order to judge their employees in several situations which they face in their daily routines. There are several kinds of measurement methods defined in psychology to analyze an employee in terms of his personality, attitude, behavior and other psychological aspects of a person in dealing with different situations. Among the different psychological methods, personality test is used extensively in the organization presently I am working for. Personality test helps the managers in judging the mental ability of the employees. The study will take into consideration past researches and theories defined by many researchers to develop an analysis as how different methodologies provide the evidence that personality tests conducted by organizations while hiring employees, promoting employees or analyzing the production will help in mental judgment of an employee. The conclusion drawn shows that personality test not only help in judging the mental ability but it also helps in analyzing different traits of the personality in a given situation.

Introduction

An individual has several personal characteristics which he or she uses to deal with situations that are faced by them in their daily occupational lives. Many organizations in order to find out the mental capability of the employees use personality tests among the various other psychological measures to have a mental judgment of the employees in a certain circumstances. Personality tests are conducted mostly at the time of recruitment, while promoting an employee to a higher rank or assessing the performance of the employee regarding a certain task assigned to him. Many researches and different methodologies used by many researchers will be taken into consideration to find out whether employee has a strong mental ability to perform in all kinds of scenarios faced by the employees. The researchers have used both the primary and the secondary resources to gather data related to the personality and whether the personality test is the correct method for judging an employee's mental judgment. The researches mentioned have used several kinds' of personality tests like intelligence test, attitude test, behavioral test and many other tests. The researches have used statistical tools to give their theoretical data a support which will enable in understanding the reasons behind the use of a particular kind of personality tests.

According to Maloney & Ward, (2006) Psychological tests are a way of understanding a person's psychic or thoughts regarding an information, situation, task or challenge that he or she faces in their routine lives. There are several kinds of psychological tests that are used by organizations, educational institutions, parents, doctors to understand the mindset of a person.
