Situation Analysis and Action Plan: HRM Dealing with Comp Issues
Overview
Like other corporate organizations, health care institutions and hospitals are widely focusing on the Human Resource Management (HRM). This is because the hospitals are also in concern with increasing the effectiveness, by adopting effective management policies and practices. However 'effectiveness' in healthcare institution means the decrease in death toll and increase in treating the diseases successfully
While the human resource management in hospitals and health care units is under progress. A lot of research is needed to be done on improving the strategies and policies of this sector. There are certain challenges faced by the human resource management in hospital, especially the requirement of the employees in the health care systems. Other challenges may include the management of clinical and non clinical persons, the training of employees, the size of the employee staff, lack of finances, migration of the practitioners to better opportunities etc.
The Responsibilities of Human Resource Department The role of human Resource Management in hospitals includes specialized assistance. There are many managers performing different tasks and duties. They include:
1. Recruiting Managers
They are involved in the hiring and recruiting of the employees. They provide job opportunities to the public.
2.Job Analyst Managers
They plan job descriptions and details of job duties.
3.Training Specialist Managers
Their duty is to manage training sessions and activities for the staff.
4.Compensation Managers
They organize compensation plans for the workers. And provide certain benefits to the employees related to injuries or diseases. They provide:
Workmen Compensation Benefits
Certain benefits have been provided to the workmen, if they get injured or ill during their work. They are as follows:
Cure and treatment for the disease or injury
Compensation payments offered to the injured or ill person
Permanent disability benefits provided by the HRM to the deserving person for lessen earning competence
Rehabilitation services provided to the affected person to help him to return to work
If Injury Happens at Work
If accidental injury occurs at work, one should report immediately to the supervisor. If supervisor is unavailable, then one must report to the Management Services Officer (MSO) for the injury, or otherwise report to the Human Resource Office/Workers' Compensation Manager.
Reporting of Incident
After reporting the injury/illness, one will be provided an Incident Report. Half part of the report will be completed by the Supervisor. Incident Report must be completed either if medical treatment is not needed.
Medical Attention
If medical treatment is required, inform the supervisor. If the Supervisor is unavailable, inform the Management Services Officer (MSO) of the department, or inform Human Resources/Workers' Compensation. The person will be advised to use Occupational Health Clinic. Physician at the clinic will provide the necessary medication, or recommend further medication. Incident Report will be reviewed by the representatives.
Medical Prescription
If authorized physician prescribes the medication, the medical prescription will be filling up through the MSC Workers' Compensation Program. Many local pharmacies are dealing the corporate client.
