Sino-US Relations

The term Sino-US relations or US-Chinese relations refer to the relationship between the government of PRC or People's Republic of China and USA or United States of America. The relationship between the two countries has been characterized by analysts as multi-faceted and complex. Both the governments do not consider them neither as enemies nor as allies. However, the nature of relationship between the countries has difficult explanation, as in some areas both countries are partners while in other areas they both are competitor. This paper in relation to the US-Sino relations will attempt to explore different dynamics of their relations. There is a fact, that since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1989, the United States has enjoyed dominance over military and economic power, but some argue that if China continuously grows in the current pace, it will eventually surpass the United States. International relations scholars are divided in understanding the implication of China's rise. While some argue that the closing gap between the United States and China will result in increasing tension and conflict between the two, others maintain that the two countries will manage to coexist peacefully. Understanding the fact, this paper will not only discuss the nature of relationship between the two countries while analyzing past events and will attempt to determine the future of Sino-US relationship.

The best strategy for America in such scenario seems debate and negotiation, so that any damaging conflict for both economies could be avoided. At this point, though, it appears there will be more posturing than thoughtful analysis during the campaign, and there is more than a little danger that the dynamics of the China debate in the campaign will exacerbate tensions and problems in U.S.-China relations.

However, the main flashpoint that could become a source of conflict between the U.S. and China in future is Taiwan. The official position of the United States of America calls for peaceful solution to the problem of Sino-Taiwanese, but the U.S. do understand that in the event of a Chinese attack on Taiwan, United States will come to help as evidenced by sending two aircraft carriers ...
