Single sex education is a controversial issue as it has its own pluses & minuses. To some, Co-Education is more realistic than Single-sex education. Some find it important for life skills development. On the other hand, single sex education has been considered essential for increasing student achievements. The supporting evidence for single sex education is based on the differentiating characteristics of girls & boys. Single sex schools provide a comfortable atmosphere in which girls or boys can focus on their studies. They can engage in a classroom discussion without the fear of embarrassment. Single sex education serves as means for transforming the academic achievement in students who have not been successful in traditional co-educational systems. Many studies argue the credibility of gender separation, and demonstrate that it serve as a hindrance for social & moral development of learners. The advocates of co-education find it as a threat that diminishes the coordination between the two genders.
