Introduction

The counseling can be defined as the guidance or advice that a person gets through the help of a professional. It focuses on giving a person training and letting him be aware of outcomes that relate to any particular situation. Counseling comes with huge number of options that person adopts according to the need and requirement. It can be regarded as service that requires great deal of research on the part of professional because of which a lot of importance has in the field of social science (Van & Orlans, 2009).

Sigmund Freud is the theorists who are well known for creating the psychoanalytical theory, based on which today we can experience the variation of psychoanalysis. He worked on the psyche of human and researched on the psychology of unconscious, revealing out his dreams, delusions, and fantasies that he experiences (Krull & Kulikov, 2006). A method of psychotherapy is based on this investigation. The method is characterized by the controlled interpretation of resistance, transference, and desire. This method is meant when psychoanalysis is used as a synonym for psychoanalytic treatment.

Carl Rogers is psychologist who devoted his research towards the approach of "Person-Centered Approach" (CPA) that mainly focuses on the potential of the human being and worth of the person. According to his approach, humans are equipped with many resources that help to understand and construct their behavior. He even did the quasi-experimental research in psychotherapy and on listening (Rogers & Russell, 2002). Furthermore, he is also recognized as the psychologist who has done the analysis of audio recordings of psychotherapy sessions.

On the other hand, when Viktor Frankl who was influenced by Freud, had reached adolescence and before him stood acute problems of professional and personal identity, psychoanalysis has taken shape in the influential current and widely accepted. Even in high school Frankl became interested in the ideas of Freud, came to him in personal correspondence. As far as Frankl was, concerned psychoanalysis speaks of the pleasure principle, individual psychology - the quest for status (Frankl, 1997). The theory he developed was logotherpay, which focused on existentialist analysis.

Differences & Similarities
