John Adams' Significance in American History

Introduction

John Adams tends to hold a significant place in the history of United States of America. Many regard him for his role in leading the struggle for American Independence. Whereas, others tends to idealize him for his performance as American Diplomat to Europe. His recital as

First vice President and second president of America too cannot be and should not be ignored as he has played a significant role in times when United States of America, was starting to crawl. Ignoring his services in any spirit would not only be un-justice with him but with the history.

John Adams was a politician, diplomat and revolutionary, who did a lot to explain the constitution of America. John Adams by his spirit and conduct was a true patriot as is evident from the following quote: “Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives”- letter to Benjamin Rush, Apr. 18, 1808.Adams played a leading role in American Revolution as political philosopher. His remarkable achievements include his work for development of the constitution, in which he emphasized on the judicious form of representative democratic state to defend autonomy.

John Adams also served as a diplomat in Europe for one decade, during his stretch as a diplomat he actively pursued the interests of USA.He was a member of the committee who drafted the Declaration of Independence (Aldridge. A, 2002, p. 217). From his early age, he always has been an imitator and vigilant. He recorded cases during his law school years and tried to solve them by himself, which gave him good experience for his coming career. He was also elected to the Massachusetts General Court (Robert B, 1966, pp. 49-57). He is one who is also known for his stand against Parliament. When Governor Thomas Hutchinson refused to get salaries from Massachusetts legislature, he replied that colonies were never under the sovereignty of Parliament (Morsberger, 1993, pp.1-4).
