Introduction

Same gender marriage has taken hype in present time, where both parties are of the same gender either a man marries a man also known as gay marriage or female marring a female which is called lesbian marriage. There are reasons behind a person preferring heterosexual relations over the homosexual relations (Sullivan, 2004). Marriage sits directly links with the religion, society and law, the discussion around same-sex couples and it being legal is one of the most complex topics in America. Legalizing homosexual marriages always trigger arguments around.

“The law for allowing gay marriages has done more destruction to the meaning and understanding of marriage. It has given liberty to the youth to take marriage lightly by getting involved in same sex relations.”

Discussion

Many authors have given the arguments in the favor and also against legalizing of same-sex marriage. Sullivan (2004) gives more supporting arguments against legalizing the homosexual marriages. He says that marriage is a pious and a precious bound between a man and a woman that has to be respected and viewed as the most valuable bond. The law for allowing gay marriages has done more destruction to the meaning and understanding of marriage. It has given liberty to the youth to take marriage lightly by getting involved in same sex relations and get married and enjoy relaxation in tax. Marriage by all means is a sacred and virtuous institution all around the world and every society around the world consider it to be the joining of two individuals, man and woman in a respected bond.

On the other hand Dan (2000) has emphasized over the medical impairments homosexuals may face if marriage among them is legalized. 4% of the population of United States is gay but they account for more than half of all the new HIV infections and more than 85% of syphilis cases. Out of 1 million of population living with HIV, 52% of them are gay men accord to the CDC. According to one epidemiological study, gay men lives 20 years less than heterosexuals due to his lifestyle which shows gay lifestyle is more destructive than a cigarette. In gay teen stands a 60% chance to develop HIV infection as opposed to straight teen who stands 10%.
