The Shawshank Redemption is a movie written and directed by Frank Darabont, and it stars Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. The movie was released in U.S. in the year 1994. It is based on the novella of Stephen King, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. The film covers an optimistic view of life by telling the story of two friends, Robbins and Freeman in a prison. There scenarios in the movie emphasis on the power of optimism, even in the most inhospitable situations (Kendrick, 2009). Synopsis of the Movie
A court jury finds that a bank vice president named Andy Dufresne is convicted of murdering his wife and lover. He insists his innocence, but the evidence was sufficient to sentence him for two life sentences. In early 1947, the former banker was transferred to the infamous prison "Shawshank" to spend the rest of his days. Upon receipt by the warden, it leaves no doubt regarding the regime of terror that reigns there and the arbitrariness with which the guards act. They were physically and psychologically abusive to the inmates (Lewis, 1998).
Over time, Andy obtains the confidence of the surveillance staff, which contributes to a key scene in "Shawshank Redemption".
