NHS: Sexual Health Strategy

Introduction

This essay provides and explains a proposed strategy to the readers that is developed to enhance the productivity of GUM (Sexual health) clinics of the National Health Services, United Kingdom. Many researches have been performed which had investigated the sensitivity of sexual health problems mostly among those who are mentally imbalanced. Reading some of the journals have explained me that the NHS system although are dedicated to provide efficient services to their patients but their strategy needs to be improved when it comes to mental patients. The awareness of mental patients is necessary, but the method of lending out this awareness is questionable. Regardless of how concerned NHS is but there is still much possibility of improvement in their systems, their behaviour and their method of treatment. Analysts claim that the treatment of sexual health is important at the very initial stage, i.e. awareness.

National Health Services agenda of 2012 identifies that promotion of sexual health is critical and important among the metal health patients. Mental illness itself is a curse, and if they get involved in unhealthy sexual practices while taking no precautions, the results could be dangerous. NHS values these problems and has taken many positive steps towards reaching mental health patients. The GUM clinics working under NHS provides these people with sexual health information, it`s treatment and protective tools such as condom so that they can be sex can bring to them a safer, but pleasurable experience. NHS public health agenda of 2013 used strong words to explain their behaviours towards promoting sexual awareness. Reproductive and sexual health and rights must be addressed. Young and mentally imbalance people needs special attention, including sexual education and awareness, as well as protection from abuse and sexual violence (National Service Frameworks, 2007).

However, before explaining the strategy in further detail it is essential to discuss some background of the NHS organization, the problem of sexual health according to NHS strategies and their policies. During the past decade, a significant change is observed and an increase in the number of diseases such as Chlamydia, HIV, gonorrhea and syphilis due to the lack of sexual awareness and increased mental disorders. Number of researches has proved that the impacts of such diseases are more common among the mental health patients and they are more likely to become victims. Due to such complicated issue, the National Health Services in United Kingdom has taken multiple steps to tackle the problems, however, are facing many difficulties during the process. National Health Services is an organization which was developed by the government to provide health care services to the people.
