CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Problem

Sexual Harassment has become a topic our humanity and organizations will not ignore. Women need to understand how to improve their place in a male overridden humanity and what to do if they are the victims of sexy harassment. Many associations are trying to find ways to better educate their workers and to incorporate a zero tolerance principle when it arrives to sexual harassment. If associations are to keep harmony inside the ranks of their workers they should act now on sexy harassment education and training. History has shown us that sexual harassment has been around for ages and in today's modern society it continues to be an issue that makes headlines on a daily basis. The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled on several cases involving sexual harassment that has long reaching implications for all organizations and the society as a whole. The purpose for this research paper is to show how women are viewed in today's society, defining sexual harassment and the steps in dealing with sexual harassment if you are a victim. I will also identify some recently highly publicized cases and how organizations can protect themselves and their employees by incorporating sexual harassment policies and how to recover from sexual harassment within an organization.

Purpose of this Research

The purpose of the current study is to begin filling the void in the existing literature by investigating the construct of client harassment, developing a measure designed specifically to assess sexual harassment of professional women by clients, and outcomes for women.

Problem Setting In what follows, I review previous research regarding sexual harassment by co-employees, including its measurement, the nature of the construct, and its antecedents and consequences. I then turn to a discussion of client harassment: the increasing coverage in the trade and popular preset's under the law. Next, I present the questions addressed in this study, along with a model to be tested based on prior sexual harassment research. I then describe the methods used to examine these questions and test the model, followed by the results of the data analyses for this study.
