Sexual Harassment

Introduction

The term sexual abuse within the family is applied to the specific form of domestic violence, where physical or sexual abuse is perpetrated by one spouse to another through threats or the use of physical force. This frequently involves forced sex (rape), sexual humiliation and degradation staff. Even in these cases, state laws protect a spouse against sexual domestic violence. In most cases there is violence of ' man against the woman, though in a fraction, is reported cases of violence (almost always more to the psychic and physical) of the woman for man (Coker, 2000).

Searches at a clinical level suggest that sexual abuse perpetrated between "homes" to produce more serious damage than a psychological violence "outside", especially when there are some features:

•A close relationship with the person doing the abuse;

•A long duration of the abuse;

•Concealment of abuse or non-recognition in the family environment;

•The abused person is not able to speak of the event;

•The abused person is still a minor.

Adult children and spouses victimize the elderly; children can be physically, psychologically, or sexually abused by parents, relatives, or siblings; gay men and lesbians can perpetrate or be victims of abuse within same-sex relationships; and intimate dating partners can commit an assault or rape. The act committed determines the crime, not the relationship between the offender and victim, but the relationship determines if the crime is classified as domestic. Historically, domestic violence was considered private, not criminal cases, family, but the criminal justice system in the United States over the past 20 years, major changes in power and authority to provide law enforcement officers to intervene (Ganley, 2009).

According to conflict Sociologist Randall Collins historically men have been “sexual aggressors” and their women have been “sexual prizes”. Therefore, women have been victimized due to their role of being child bearers and as they are submissive and vulnerable. Collins argues that women have been treated as objects of desire by men; they have been used as an economic bargain by their fathers and as submissive gender by their husbands. The Patriarch believes that, through submission of his spouse, he will be able to gain access to property ownership, money, children and other rights.

Laws on Sexual Harassment

If the Equal Opportunities Commission or the Labor Court to prove that the company was related to sexual harassment as defined by the Commission or a court, it would not be fined and the obligation to pay the victim of harassment.
