Abstract

To address stress management and health promotion a program is designed to provide services to the older recipients with Cancer disease. When the caregivers are involved in providing care to old age cancer patients they along with the patient has to undergo unbound pressure and therefore, caregivers often faces difficulties when providing quality care and manage their daily activities. It is important to know how the issue could be resolved by initiating the program designed by health professionals and supported by community organizations and how the designed program would benefit both the aging patient and the caregiver.

Introduction

Stress has become a part of daily life, but the factor of stress is said to be more evidently present in the lives of care givers who are involved in looking after the health and managing the daily activities of older patients who finds it difficult to perform alone without any assistance. Stress and health management program is a program designed to facilitate older patients suffering from cancer and their care givers. This program is designed under the supervision of well professionals head nurses and doctors. The program involves methods that could be used to release stress in both the patients and informal caregivers also in what ways better and quality care services can be provided to patients with cancer disease.

Caregiving to patients, with chronic diseases and disabilities, is a critical phase for the caregivers especially when they suffer from cancer. Recent studies made by NAC/AARP show that the trend of providing quality care in America has increased in which men and women both readily provides caregiving services to the patients especially the older ones. The dependency of older people over their peers or caregivers has increased in the past few years. It has become important to introduce programs for the caregivers that can facilitate them in providing quality care and assistance to aging cancer patients.

Importance of Caregivers Providing Services

Caregivers by far provide the greater part of services and support to people with disabilities and diseases. By providing health care services, the caregivers become an integral part of patients' life and develop a close bonding with them. They act as an advocate for the dependent recipients (LA County, 2010).

The caregivers assist the dependent group of people in managing their activities. The services involve assistance in personal hygiene, managing visits to the doctors, helping them with medications. The caregivers provide them emotional support which is the greatest need of the elderly age group. The services also include sound skilled care planning and conciliation with the health care service providers and insurers (AARP, 2007 & Johansson et.al. 2011).

At present, the health and care system in America has become very expensive. Despite of many health support programs available, people with prolonged health conditions like cancer often confronts difficulty in managing medical expenditures (LA County, 2010).
