Self Discloser in Therapy

Self disclosure, as the name suggests, refers to unveiling information consciously or unconsciously. The information is essentially about oneself and is by nature considered to be private. It is more related to feelings, emotions, grievances, failures, dreams, and wishes. Yet, it can also be something that is embarrassing to disclose openly in the public. It is a form of behavioral interdependence and includes perceptions of the revelation of a partner. These behaviors (one's own revelation) and perceptions (the revelation of perceived partner) should have an impact on knowledge of self and partner compatibility (cognitive) and the affect on the relationship (satisfaction). Personal attributes also determine how people react. The concept of self disclosure is taken as a double sided concept. This happens commonly in the business scenarios where different methods are applied to drive people in the unconscious stage and extract confidential information from them. Self-disclosure thus, should be wisely done taking into account the intentions of other person (Bareket-Bojmel et al, 2011). There can be four approaches to self disclosure in relatively positive way.

Self disclosure should be a deliberate effort by the individual; there are two kinds of deliberate self disclosures; self-revealing ...
