CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the topic

There were famous researches who conducted a study on motivation so far and traits of entrepreneurship revealed that it is the need for achievement, profitability, and self-reliance that motivates entrepreneurs. The researchers were known as Henri Savall, Marc Bonnett, David Boje and John Conbere. The concept of SEAM has been very popular in most of the literatures. There are some of the major published works on the SEAM journals and articles. All the researchers had a valuable contribution towards the concept of Entrepreneurship as they developed several concepts to explain the significance of this topic. The objective is to assess the importance of SEAM in the entrepreneurship activities of the business. This is the reason why the work of these authors is widely regarded by most of the businesspersons. Therefore, all the issues related to SEAM and Entrepreneurship will be discussed in detail.

2.1 Importance of Entrepreneurship

In today's competitive environment which is marked by survival of the fittest, it is essential that each individual should get the chance to explore and capitalize on the many opportunities in the internal and external environment. The sedentary lifestyle, rising cost of living, high inflationary pressure, the vicious cycle of debt, the change in consumer dynamics whereby people have become more convenience oriented and consumption oriented, pose threats to the human survival given the scarce resources. The need for people to ensure a steady flow of income has robbed people of their enterprising attitude. Seeing the level of risk inherent in entrepreneurship, people often resist become an entrepreneur. In addition, those who fail as an entrepreneur are highly demotivated and serve as a bad signal for the upcoming entrepreneurs. Hence, it is essential what does it take for an entrepreneur to become successful so that more and more may avoid the mistakes that have been made in the past. This research will not only examine the relationship between motivation, resource and work family balance but also provide guideline on how to turn these into the antecedents for entrepreneurial success. Though, the main focus on this topic is on the incorporation of Entrepreneurship into Socio-Economic Approach to Management. The two concepts have strong correlation with each other and all these issues will be discussed in detail in the upcoming paragraphs.
