Abstract

The purpose of this article is to critcally address the question of how school rankings is apart of international business and how it contributes to international business. The emotional facets of the debate have produced in obscuring the objectives and inherent assumptions of those engaged in the discussions. It is suggested that the inherent assumptions are reevaluated and there is a refocusing of objectives in alignment to produce more productive outcomes from being critical of international business. The debate should restart with an acceptance of well established principles sustained by decades of empirical research and history by all parties and the debate should aim on the genuine practices of worldwide enterprises in an try to make international trade work for all other than striking international business as an institution. UK institutions as a assembly have performed the leading function in both international business (IB) study and the development of IB programs.

Purpose of the Study

The reason of this paper is to address the function of the international business and we will be examining global patterns of international business research and how school rankings contribute in this.

Research Question

What are the reasons that non-UK schools are progressing to much?

Does collaboration with scholars increase the school ranking? And if yes than how?

Why asian pacific schools are getting more priority than UK schools?

Background of the Study

For the past 30 years, UK organisations as a assembly have performed the premier function in both international business (IB) research and the development of IB programs. Academic organisations over the globe has now become progressively significant and obtained much more attention. Many academic organisations in Asia and Europe more lately arrive along to reinforce their IB programs and research. While a couple of studies compare publication notes on distinct countries in some business disciplines, there are no one that gaze at tendencies in IB research over a long period.

We have two objectives of this study in this regard. First, we investigate the tendencies in IB research and productivity of learned organisations in Asia-Pacific and European nations in evaluation to the North America countries. We use the total number of appearances (without modifying for coauthorships and coaffiliations) and the weighted number of items (weighted by coauthors and coaffiliations) in four identified international business journals over a 10-year time span (1995-2004) as our two assessing metrics.
