Introduction

In order to assess the sampling approach for any research, it is first imperative to understand the purpose behind conducting the research. The research in the given scenario is being conducted to assess the amount of time that the employees of a given organization spend at the water cooler and the conversation that they have their. This is important to study because the time of an employee at work is the time he should be spending in a manner that benefits the organization. Certain employees have a tendency to digress from their commitments to the organization they work for and tend to waste their time by standing at the water cooler for unnecessary longer periods of time and talking about things that do not relate to their work.

It is also imperative to state that the conversations that take place between the employees at the water cooler has important implications for the management of the organization in that it gives them an insight on what employees feel about the organization in general and about their work in particular. The paper discusses the sampling method that has been selected for the research, provides an assessment on the sampling approach taken by the researcher, Adam and suggests an alternative way of approaching the work sampling.

For this purpose, he suggests that the researcher may use camera and microphones and install them at the water cooler area without the employees' knowledge that they are being watched. This raised confidentiality and ethical issues in that recording the employees without their knowledge is unethical. Similarly, listening to their private conversation at the water cooler can also be a breach of confidentiality and a sort of intrusion.
