Safety Management Issues In Chemical Production

Abstract

I am writing a research paper on Safety Management Program of Chemical production. Here I will deal with all the necessities that will create a safety management program, and will deal with all of its issues and problems. In this research paper we discuss requirements for safety management processes, elements of process safety management program, information on process safety, the involvement of all employees in the program, current hazard analysis process. After discussing the control changes, we will conclude the essence of the topic.

Introduction

All processes are designed to change the molecular structure or the creation of new products of the chemicals associated with the risk of fire, explosion or release of flammable or toxic liquids, vapors, gases or industrial chemicals. To research and study of these unwanted processes is a special science called safety management processes. The most common terms for a safety process, and security management processes used to measure are aimed at eliminating the undesirable effects on staff, the public and the environment from the consequences of incidents involving flammable or highly hazardous substances. In accordance with the wording of the Association of the U.S. chemical producers (CMA), "the safety and security of the process is to control the potential hazards caused by the failure or violation of the processes used for processing raw materials into a finished product, resulting in a leak of hazardous substances" (CMA 51). 

To detect the possibility of catastrophic consequences in the workplace and the environment in the process of systematically identifying and assessing risks it is important to take in account all possible factors influencing the course of the process. The effects of incidents due to the flammable or highly hazardous flam may impact the technological and production processes, changing the materials used and practice of the operation and maintenance of equipment, training, and readiness for emergencies is essential to overcome the situations. 

Safety Management Program

In the early eighty's in the petroleum and chemical industries, faced number of serious accidents that led to the release of highly hazardous substances and the loss of a significant number of people and caused serious material damage.  According Lee these incidents have prompted government agencies, labor organizations and industry associations worldwide to develop and introduce new laws and regulations on the safety technology processes to eliminate or mitigate the adverse events, using the principles of safety management processes (66).

In response to public concern about the potential hazards associated with chemicals, governments and regulators around the world start developing programs under which many chemical businesses to manufacturers and consumers identify the hazardous materials in the workplace and on the same time it became important to inform employees and consumers about the dangers associated with their production process, use, storage and processing. According to Siegrist these programs include emergency preparedness, hazard identification, and providing information about the product; in order to control the spread of hazardous chemicals and to provide information about the release of toxic substances, including the processing of hydrocarbons (215).
