Introduction

Organizational behavior is the science of studying how workers and their behavior interact within an organization in a workplace set up. It involves many disciplines which include communication, sociology, management and psychology. Its major aim is to give reports and reviews in the growing research in organizational or industrial psychology and organizational behavior areas internationally. This paper focuses on theory and research in all the fields related to professional or organizational behavior which include motivations on duties performed, equal distribution of opportunities at work places, stress due to occupations, work design and career processes, work quality, life and job satisfaction, selecting personnel and training, analysis of work, aspects of behavior in industrial relations and managerial behavior in well established organizational structure.

Discussion

Several instances both in professional and personal way of life are considered when inputs and opinions from more than one person are to be considered in decision-making. This could be one reason why group decisions come into the question. This is a complex process, achievable through many strategies. Like many other processes, this process of taking group decisions has its own ups and downs as highlighted below.

Decisions reached at in a group, combine personal strengths of individual group members. This has a set of varied knowledge sets applied in this process. First, these decisions enhance broader perspective due to several differences which could be found people in a group, i.e. individual opinions could be biased or be affected by misconceived notions. Secondly, these decisions always have a collective understanding of the strategy to be undertaken after the decision is taken. Thirdly, these decisions are so concrete that they gain greater commitment in the group. Reason being every group member has a share in the process.

They also call for a strong sense of members' spirit and enhance togetherness in terms o successes and failures. The disadvantages of this process include much time consumed in concluding a decision because group members must come to consensus or else the decision isn't reached at. Again these decisions take longer to be accomplished since there are several opinions to be considered and valued. Secondly, the efficiency of the group may be compromised reasons could be splitting in the group due to unequal sharing of responsibilities, accountability and decisions (in some cases) and thirdly, peoples' opinions aren't considered due to authoritarian, dictatorship or minority group decision making.

Everyone in an organization should be involved in decision making because almost no two groups or individuals will or have ever functioned same way, i.e. in the context of decision making process. In dictatorship, decision making ultimately lies in the hands of one powerful person whose dictation has the finality on the results. This makes members whose opinions are disregarded have negative attitude and feelings about the decisions made. Decisions started from scratch, i.e. creating concrete options and weighing them, can be brain stormed which is an excellent strategy for decision making.
