Introduction

Ethics are the general code of conducts that are established by the individuals in the society, to lead a life of morally correct principles. The concept of ethics cannot be considered as a universally standardized entity, because different cultures and societies have diverse ethical perspectives (Herman, 1993, pp. 104). Throughout various societies that exist in different parts of the world, every nation is influenced by their own ideas and concepts of the correct ethical code of conducts.

Ethics in the Modern Society

In the human society the ideological guideline is an essential component, as it influences the policies and the rules that are developed in the society. These rules than become the foundation of the socio economic development of the country, and they are also bound to alter and evolve as the society p0rogresses. Hence in this perspective the concept of ethics can be defined as highly volatile and relative, as per the customers and traditions of the various societies that exist all over the world.

Although the concept of ethics is generally considered as a relative entity, majority of te developed societies in the world have displayed that they possess very similar ethical ideologies. In the contemporary society, majority of the western nations have very close and interlinked ethical code of conducts (Korsgaard, 1996, pp. 49). In this scenario the concept of ethics can be considered as a universal entity, as the developed nations have shared the ethical cultures that exist in their societies. Hence the contemporary classification of ethics is very different form the historical perspective, because in the modern era the society is moving towards an integrated entity, which generally has a shared and homogeneous ethical framework. The modern initiatives such as the process of globalization have highlighted this unification of the ethical cultures of the overall society and the universal approach of the human ethics. Technology and the amalgamation of the different societies in the world have aided the development of the modern cosmopolitan society, where e shared and universal ethical code of conduct is followed.

In this scenario the main question regarding the relevance and the objectivity of ethics, is that what are the factors which contribute to the development of the ethical code of conduct, and can these factors be termed as universal and standardized in nature? The modern developments regarding the concept of ethics have proven that the concept of ethics can be implemented on a universal basis, as individuals from different socio cultural backgrounds have a general understanding of the morally and ethically correct principles. There are certain factors that exist in the overall human society which can be termed as intrinsically good or bad, because they are in their essence positive or negative.
