Introduction

The organizational sector has a significant influence on the overall society and environment. In the traditional perspective, the management of the organizations had a very limited view regarding their direct stakeholders, and they did not take into account the repercussions of their organizational decisions on the environment. The growth of the industrial sector since the advent of the industrial revolution in the western countries, has paved the way for several innovations and the latest technologies that are used today. However, this growth has also had certain negative impacts on the society and the environment, leading to the concern of the general society and the government authorities on the progress and the organizational activities of the business sector (Klee & Coles, 2004, pp.202). It is due to this enhanced attention of various stakeholders on the activities of the organizational sector, that the companies in the contemporary environment have had to make several drastic changes to their long-term strategies and objectives. The management of these companies now considers the concern for the environment and the impact of the business activities over several stakeholders. In the historical perspective, these companies were only interested in their bottom line financial objectives, and the majority of their decisions were made through this limited framework.

The housing industry has a significant impact on the society and the environment. This is the industry, which is very active and sensitive to the economic factors of the country. One of the most notable attribute of the civilized as well as the developing countries over the recent decades has been the exponential growth in the population. In the early 20th century the advancement in the medical field and the technology, enabled the birth rates and the general health of the population to increase, whereas the death rates decreased drastically. This phenomenon has been continuously increasing throughout the century and has persisted in the advent of the 21st century. The significance of the continuous growth of the population trend on the housing industry is that both of these concepts are proportionally interlinked. The housing industry is supported by the growth of the population. As the general population increases, their demand for houses also increases, creating a strong industry. The economic growth experienced by the western countries has also led to the investments made by the government and local authorities in the public infrastructure, which is essential; for the support of the organizational activity. Hence, the housing industry, which consists of several complimentary industries, is essential for the economic growth of the country, and also is one of the most active industries in the western world.
