Eleanor Estes (1906-1988) was an American children's author. She also won a Newbery medal for her book called “Ginger Pye”. Estes's books are mostly representing her lifestyle of the early 90's in a small town in Connecticut. She was born in west haven in Connecticut. Este's father , Louis Rosenfield worked in railways as a book keeper. Her mother Caroline Gewecke Rosenfeld was a story teller and a seamstress.
