Influence of Parenting and Teaching Style on Student Performance

Studies suggest a link between parental involvements with homework, performance school students. Moreover, the feeling of competence not only predicted student performance, but also the amount of effort and educational aspirations (Deslandes and Lafortune, 2001). However, the study by Dunst, (1999) reveals that the perceived competence of the student builds from historical performance and feedback from agents of socialization, including teachers and parents (Dunst,1999,141-172). Finally, expectations and beliefs of parents are better predictors of perceived competence the student than are the marks awarded by teachers.
