Roots of Rap Poetry

Introduction

Rap Poetry is a different form of Poetry, and it is distinct from the spoken word poetry. Rapping refers to Chanted Rhyming Lyrics. It is performed in time to a beat. This form of poetry exists in many cultures. It started from way back. In China, this form of poetry is known as Qin Songs. It is referred as Opo verses in Africa, in Jamaica they call it chatting, where as in Trinidad it is known as dubbing. In most part of Europe, it is termed as poetry.
