Role of Effective Teamwork Communication

Team Communication

The aspect of team communication relies on using different types of communication mediums that augment the accomplishment of team goals. Effective team communication represents understanding the varying beliefs of people and to keep the message as simple as possible. Since a team is made up of diverse people, it is necessary to understand their distinct values and beliefs in order to successfully align the whole team with the accomplishment of team goals (Hung, C. L., Kuo, S. J., & Dong, T. P, 2013).

Importance of Team Communication

Team communication has increased in prominence in the context of contemporary organizations as a majority of contemporary organizations accomplish various projects by relying on team work. Without team work, organizations would be incapable of accomplishing various projects. There is no point in establishing teams that lack appropriate communication since the success of teams is measured through the presence of effective communication (Hung, C. L., Kuo, S. J., & Dong, T. P, 2013).

Teams use different types of communication in order to have all the team members on board regarding the progress of teams and thus the work flow can be maintained. Team communication goes a long way in successfully accomplishing various projects since communication is the stimulating force of an efficient team. All the members of a team must be easily accessible and there must be an appointment of a team captain that successfully controls and monitors the performance of different team members. Effective team members are always there for each other and remove any communication barriers that might be present. With effective team communication, the queries and difficulties faced by team members can be removed easily (Brock et al, 2013).

Team Structure

The aspect of team structure plays a huge role in the accomplishment of team effectiveness. Without appropriate team structure, the team effectiveness would always be missing. The two most important elements of a team structure are interdependence and team autonomy/self leadership. Interdependence refers to the fact that team members are always there for each other and rely on each other in times of facing difficult situations as a team. Only those teams would achieve team effectiveness that practices the concept of interdependence on a great deal. There would be many members in a team that would be characterized by individual weaknesses and thus would need assistance from other team members. In addition, team members would be performing different types of roles and thus would require a high frequency of interdependence.

Another concept that shapes up team structure is the use of team autonomy or self leadership. In the context of any team, all team members must possess leadership ...
