Introduction

Throughout the twentieth century many high profile criminal cases have occurred. Most of those criminal cases were highly controversial, which involves cases such as; The Vanzetti and Sacco Trial, the O.J, Simpson trial, and the Scopes Monkey Trial. All of these cases have issues such as; the biasment of jury, are the witnesses lying, were the evidence provided strong enough to rebuke the criminal. But in the end the question that matters the most is that at the end was the justice served (Los Angeles Times, 1992).

In our everyday life local police officers work really hard to guarantee the safety of our community and its residents. They put away criminals, stop drunk drivers, and perform many other jobs, but that does not give them the right to beat suspects almost to their death. Just what happened in the case of Rodney Glen King? Rodney Glen King was an African-American living inside the American state of California. Rodney became well known in the year 1991, when he became the victim of excessive police violence. On 3rd March 1991 Rodney was caught by the California police after a long high speeding chase. King was intoxicated and had tried to escape because he feared his own words, because of drunk driving against parole violation, which were imposed on him because of a previous robbery offense. During the arrest, against the King resisted and one of residents was shot accidentally, officials went so brutally against the African-Americans that four non-black police officers (three white and one Latino ) were put on trial for it (Hazen, & Don, 1992).

Discussion

Rodney King became a symbol of racial tension in the United States that emerged after the show on American television movie, which was caught from his beating by police in Los Angeles, detained him in a car chase in March 1991.

Four police officers were tried on charges of battery and excessive force

April 29, 1992 the court acquitted the four police officers, which led to mass riots and looting in Los Angeles, which lasted six days. Almost a year later four police officers from the Los Angeles U.S. federal authorities and charged with violating the civil rights of Rodney King. Two were sentenced to 30 months in prison.
