Coronary Artery Disease

Introduction The coronary Artery Disease is also called as coronary atherosclerotic heart disease. The disease occurs by the deposition of atheromatous plaque. The deposition takes place in the medium and large arteries of the heart. The idiopathic form of the disease occurs due to coronary seizure. Coronary artery atherosclerosis initiates in an insidious way and it is distributed in different blood vessels at irregular levels. The atherosclerotic blood vessels cannot expand and show abnormal wave propagation. The blood flow can be reduced to myocardium due to less expansion of blood vessels. The reduced blood flow can result in myocardial ischemia (Homoud, 2008).

Hansson, G. K. (2005). Inflammation, atherosclerosis, and coronary artery disease. New England Journal of Medicine, 352(16), 1685-1695.

Knowledge regarding inflammation in the coronary artery disease has been provided in the article. Different new methods of prediction and diagnosis are also given.

The functional activity and number of Endothelial progenitor cells in the people with coronary artery disease is identified in the study.

The interaction between Clopidogrel and omeprazole is discussed in the coronary artery disease. There has found to be a meaningful difference in the cardiovascular events that occur by the use of PPI.

There are 13 new loci identified in the study for the coronary artery disease. Different risk frequency alleles are also shown.

The use of coronary artery bypass grafting is discussed in the article because this method results in reduced events of coronary artery disease
