Reflective Statement and Learning Log Assignment 2

Reflective Statement and Learning Log Assignment 2

Introduction

Reflective Statement and Learning Log are an effective way to reflect back on the learning, which helps in determining the areas of strengths and improvement. This essay is a reflective and learning blog that reflect on my learning as a group member on the topic “Advert placement to conform to employment legislation.” This paper offers insight on what I have learned and what skills and knowledge I gained during the learning process (Brockbank, A. & McGill, I. 2007).

Descriptive

The class started at 10 am Monday 5th, 6th, and 7th August 2013. The class has been divided into five groups, namely, A, B, C, D and E. Each group is comprised of five members, and I belonged to Group E. Each group is required to give a group presentation and required to work and share ideas about performance skills improvement.

During the class sessions, the lecturer has introduced the module aims and daily activities within the last three days. After the lecture, we had a group presentation on the 5th August. The topic of our presentation was “Advert placement to conform to employment legislation.” All members in my group “Group E” contributed to their best potential. Our group has decided to place an advert on the job description and exercise of personal specification that was included in the presentation to be observed by the lecturer.

On the second day, the group has prepared a set of the well-structured interview questions within the team. The interview questions were based on the details presented in the job description and person specification for a position of Human Resources Advisor (HR) in university of Camblewick. It is assumed that we are the HR managers. Mock set up was organised where we acted as HR managers, as well as a mock applicant was invited to observe and examine the response to the questions. All members of the team take part in this mock activity, as the lecturer will provide marks at the end to the team.

On the third day, the lecturer asked all teams to write a reflective and learning log to look back on our journey, and to examine how effective and to what extent we all have developed our skills, as well as what we have learned. Additionally, the lecturer asked teams to write reflective and learning log as it might promote in-depth understanding for all of us (Daly, P. & Gijbels, D. 2009).

Feelings

This process of learning was interesting and challenging as it offers an opportunity to learn new skills. I found it quite interesting way of learning as I have learned through doing. I thought that I have performed quite well especially in the segment of the interview while in other segments, I perceived myself as an average performer but not disappointing because it allows me to become an optimistic and stronger person as ever before (Foster, G. 2008).

Lack of collaboration and competition were the other important issues ...
