Introduction
The Convention on the Rights of the Child has been used to promote and protect the rights of children worldwide. In the years since its adoption, significant progress has been made ??to respect the right of children to survival, health and education by providing services and essential goods (hreoc.gov.au). In addition, it is increasingly recognized that a protective environment should be initiated to protect children from exploitation, abuse and violence. However, much remains to be done to build a world fit for children. Progress has been uneven, and some countries have lagged far behind the other to give the rights of the child's important that they should occupy in their government programs. In several regions and countries, some progress may even be reduced to nil because of poverty, armed conflict and HIV / AIDS.
In this study, we will be exploring the rights of the child in Australia and what are the policies that are adopted by the government. We will also be discussing that what is the importance of family and its participation or the rights of the child, and what changes must be made in the policies to protect the rights of the children in the country. It should be noted that rights of the child has become a serious issue and it must be deal accordingly.
Discussion
The term "child" comes from Latin infant meaning "one who does not speak." Among the Romans, the term refers the child from birth to age 7 years. This concept has evolved over the centuries and cultures to identify the human being from birth to adulthood ultimately. However, this conception of the child was large, and the age of majority varies from one culture to another. The Australian policies of Chilren Rights define more precisely the term "child" as every human being below the age of eighteen years unless majority is attained earlier under the law applicable to it (hreoc.gov.au). The idea passed through this definition, and all provisions of child protection, is that the child is a human being with rights and dignity. The children's rights are human rights. They are designed to protect the child as a human being. As well as the rights of man in general, the rights of the child are made up of fundamental guarantees and human rights principles (Parton 2006: 104):
The rights of the child spend the fundamental guarantees to all human beings: the right to life, the principle of non discrimination, the right to dignity through the protection of physical and intellectual integrity (protection against the slavery, torture and ill treatment).
The children's rights are civil and political rights, such as the right to an identity, and the right to a nationality.
