Introduction

Heart failure is a critical condition, which is the result of various socioeconomic burdens and for this reason scientist trying working hard to develop effective solutions to eliminate the effects of the disease through modern innovative techniques. In the following paper, a new innovative technique by the name of Heart Failure Management Program (HF-MP)is highlighted and the author critically analyzed the research. The research paper used by the author is written by Lambrinou, et. al., (2012) 'Effectiveness of heart failure management programs with nurse-led discharge planning in reducing re-admissions: A systematic review and meta-analysis'. The objective of the research paper is to construct a meta-analysis to estimate the effect of HF-MP in relation to the nurse driven pre-discharge phase that was carried out on the basis of heart failure and also all-cause of re-admission.

Therefore, the main motive of the author in critical analyzing the research paper is to find answers to the following questions;

Are the results of the Study Valid?

How effective would be the interventions effect and how precise was the estimate of the intervention effect?

How would be those results apply to the patient care and would be the results would be same if applied to patients similar to patients used in clinical practice?

Discussion

Validity of the Results

Throughout the world, heart failure management programs are widely used for the purpose of providing better treatment to the patients and thus aiming to prevent and to reduce the HF re-admissions with improving quality of life of the patients and better ration of the patients surviving from HF. Normally the HF management programs engage different multi disciplinary teams and coordination of care is the specialty of these teams. Heterogeneity is one of the common problems faced by the management programs, which lead to the variation among the team setting, intensity of interventions, nature and also cause difficulties in understanding the essential components of the effective and successful HF-MP.

For the research purpose, around 261 articles were selected by the researchers and all the studies that included in the research revealed that nurse-led pre-discharge actually means the patient is discharged by planning or by educating him/her, or through consultation or through evaluation of the case. However, post discharge content cannot be controlled by the nurses because the patient is responsibility of the family. However, the result showed an interesting point in terms of continued education and self-care empowerment are the two most dominant components through which the nature of intervention could be transformed according to the desired outcome. Beside the nursing role, the researchers also stated that evaluation of the patient's clinical condition also based on the optimal pharmacotherapy as per the physician demand. The studies that were selected by the author were based on the factors, which were the outcome of the re-admission that lead the patients towards the hospital.

Considering the long term effect of the HF-MP, there were around 19 different studies, which didn't show any significant change focusing on the statistically ...
