Introduction

The paper aims at evaluating the recommended research article to find a way to bridge the gap between practical and research learning. The paper evaluates adequacy of the research article by dividing the work into nine tasks, each addressing specific area of the research article. Finally, a conclusion is drawn based on overall examination of the research study and its effect on the environment.

Discussion

The research study titled 'Do They Really Dislike Social Studies? A Study of Middle School and High School Students' by Chiodo, J. J. is selected to analyze. The task is composed of nine sub tasks to evaluate and analyze data of the research study in order to explore the research adequacy and its possible effect on the environment.

Task A - Participants of the Research Study

Examination reveals that research study was based on the prime participation of high and middle school students (Chiodo, 2004). The research study accessed local community and district schools of Southwestern State of the US, to collect primary data on their research study. In order to investigate the attitude of students towards social studies, students from two different grade levels were accessed to identify their perception of social studies (Chiodo, 2004).

For this very own purpose, twenty four students from each grade i.e. 8the grade and eleventh grade. The participation lot was based on an equal share of male and female participants from both grades. Conclusively, forty eight students from eighth and eleventh grade were selected to participate in the research findings (Chiodo, 2004).

Task B - Summary of Methodology, Procedures and Used Instruments

Since the research study was based on a bound system of 8th and 11th grade perspective, the research methodology involved phenomenological research approach (Chiodo, 2004). A method of two stage sampling was used to select purposeful sample for the study. Firstly, it involved the selection of four classes from each accessed school. Secondly, refining of each selected class to select students that create a reasonable sample size for the research purpose (Chiodo, 2004).

Procedure of data collection was based on the interviewing time frame from February to March (Chiodo, 2004). A question guideline was designed from the prior research studies to assist students in defining their response towards social studies curriculum. The study was conducted via the application of viable and relevant research instruments including interview, audio taped interviews, and taking notes to make precise observations (Chiodo, 2004).

Task C - Procedure of Data Analysis

In order to conduct reliable data analysis that could lead to conclusive research findings, the study was based on the social and behavioral research model of Diener and Crandall's (1978) (Chiodo, 2004). Hidden postures and non-verbal clues in each bound section were observed and analyzed via the technique of interview notes. Then, gathered data was coded to identify various themes through the establishment of corroborating themes in each bound system (Chiodo, 2004).
