The most important part of any research is the research design which explains the way ones research will move (Saunders, Lewis &Thornhill, 2000, pp. 95-102). In our analysis, secondary data has been used which was obtained through the questioonaire which even contains some open ended questions. The advantage of using secondary data is that its reliability and validity increased to a greater extent (Bowerman, O'Connell & Orris, 2003, pp.362-376). The advanatage of using such research designs is that they are fairly less costly and time saving in comparison with primary research and primary data whose dealing is no doubt more costly.
Population
The population and sample used in the study is situated around New York because hotel is also situated there. The choice of population other than New York would be a stupidity and doesn't make any sense because hardly people from cities specially came to visit hotel. The sample contains 427 respondents who responded to the survey from different age group and income group as discussed above.
Data
Being a questionnaire survey, the data used in the survey is quantitative with nominal and ordinal scales. There are few questions about the gender and residence which were scaled as nominal and other questions being perceptions recorded as ordinal scales (Ware & Brewer,1999, pp. 65-71). The responses if the respondents were measured from scale 1 - 7, the scale of 1 being the lowest possible perception i.e. highly disagree or highly unsatisfied and similarly 7 being the highest degree i.e. highly satisfied or agree with the asked questions.
Data Collection Method
The data has been collected through the survey which was conducted by hotel to have the correct and relevant information about the survey to plan an increment in the hotel. The sample taken from the survey consists of respondents who live near New York . The questionnaire was provided to the respondents during their visit at the hotel and a free environment was given to them so that they can provide their answers without any enforcing (Ronald, 2010, pp.317-330). The respondents were free to give any answer because forced answers would certainly lead to biased results and which certainly hotel manager do not want because this will not give a brief overview of the study.
Research Questions
There are few research questions that are to be analysed and the whole policy for the future of the hotel will be followed after analysing these questions.
Whether the customers are satisfied or not, and if not why not?
Whether there are any problems with the food, the atmosphere, or some other aspect of hotel offering (e.g. employees or service?).
What are the common characteristics of satisfied customers?
Whether the target market correctly defined or does it need to focus on a different niche?
Whether the sub-groups of customers that are more committed (loyal) to hotel? And if so who are they?
Results and Findings
The hotel has various income group customers and there income has to be analysed in order to post a policy in ...
