Since late 2007, the financial crisis has been the major aspect discussed all around the world. Its significance is gained based on the negative impact it has on wealth, living standards, and income in developing and developed nations. One of the lesser discussed topics on the financial crisis is the involvement of public administration. Its impact on this criterion has been communicated in terms of economic and social policies and the implementation of these policies (Coffman 2010).
The public administration requires a transformation, an adoption of measures, and a reform to attribute to recovery. This recovery from the crisis is targeted towards the long and short runs while trying to create a development that is equitable, sustainable, and inclusive. Based on these statements, an argument has been generated regarding the public administration's role in the economy. During the late 70's, an argument has been suggested that supports utilizing market-driven and private sector management techniques. The key doctrine that needs to be utilized is the understanding the perspective of Jean Jacques Rousseau and his philosophy being applied on the crisis today. It is important to utilize his theories, constructs, and concepts on the current financial crisis to understand the changes needing to be implemented on the public administration (Damrosch 2007).
Currently the Obama administration is following a focus based on the welfare of the state. He stated that the vision is primarily focused on the social aspect of the United States of America in compare to the deficit being faced by the budget from the financial crisis. His key note focuses and supports progressiveness followed by Jean Jacques Rousseau. In Rousseau's Social Contract, the government is a centralized force that is influenced by the state to provide subsistence to its citizens in fairness of equality. Within this context, public administration needs to be modified to improve management during the financial crisis and its impact still being faced today (Coffman 2010).
