Research Proposal -Causes of Parental Neglect

Chapter 01- INTRODUCTION

Topic Statement

I am researching the causes of parental neglect to determine the origin of the neglect so that my readers will be able to ameliorate the negative effect of parental neglect on the developing child.

Problem Statement

Effective intervention for the prevention of child negligence, or to devise the remedies for child negligence requires comprehensive understanding of its major causes. On the other hand, specification of causes of negligence is hindered by the limited studies on parental negligence. Majority of the studies of children maltreatment include the abusive and neglectful attitude of families. However, these studies failed to distinguish between the groups. Therefore, it is impossible to identify the outcomes particularly related to neglect.

However, scholars have been analyzing by the existing research and experiences of practitioners that there is not one cause of parental neglect. Therefore, comprehension of causality of parental negligence needs that it should be analyzed from broader perspective of ecological system. Several scholars have proposed that reasons of child neglect should be considered in ecological frameworks. There are three determinants of good parenting
