Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education
Introduction
New Information and Communications Technologies have evolved dramatically in recent years, especially due to its ability to interconnect through the network. This new phase of development will have a great impact on the organization of teaching and the process learning. In this connection, this paper will suggest a research design on which the research on monitoring and evaluation of ICT in education project of high school will be carried out.
Problem Statement
The impact of new technologies and the demands of the new society are being felt increasingly in the world of education. Education is changing from a secondary service to become the directing force of economic and social development. The knowledge society requires new workers and citizens. These have to be autonomous, entrepreneurial, creative workers, caring citizens and socially active. Imposing a radical change in the world of education and training since it requires a greater role for individual students. Education is no longer packaged learning content and makes them available to students, but equipping them to the learning experience. On the other hand, there is a growing trend towards the institutionalization and commercialization of education. The identification of "e-learning" or learning through the Internet as a natural area for market development is attracting new investors. Increasingly the market is viewed as entertainment-education a promising area (Schutter, 2001). New educational initiatives are emerging aimed at the hands of museums, libraries and other non-educators. Education is acquiring a position of great importance in the development and consolidation of the new society. In this connection, it is pertinent to carry out a research on monitoring and evaluation of ICT in high school education project so that better understanding regarding the ICT's importance in education project can be prevailed.
Purpose and Importance
Technology, globalization and competition, have caused the ground shift under the higher education worldwide, defying national borders and calling into question honored traditions, myths, and previously unquestioned assumptions that can be called a changing paradigm in higher education. The terms "Global Village," "Post-Industrial Society," "Information Society," and "Knowledge Society" are just a few of the terms that have been coined in an attempt to identify and understand the extent of these change (Leask & Pachler, 1999). This increases the significance of this study, because finding of this study will help in enhancing the understanding regarding the importance of ICT in high school education project and how ICT can be used effectively for marching towards knowledge based society and economy. This research will attempt to answer the following questions:
What is the importance of ICT in education projects?
What are the impacts of ICT on education project?
How ICT can be monitored and evaluated in education project?
